life raft (the one we got!!)

after the life raft experiment we did with jerry aka Captain Sanders (see previous post) we got a new life raft at the boat show and installed it on deck!!!

what a difficult decision this was.... on the one hand you do not want to spend thousands of dollars on something you will most likely never use, but what if you do use it? and more importantly, what if your life depends on it??? so after looking, comparing and negotiating a lot we got it. our great friend Jerry helped us a lot with this decision, he gave us his old plastimo raft and we opened it at home and.... we witnessed the results. the raft opened but only one of the two chambers inflated, the other did not!!!!!!!! so we inflated the other chamber manually and we left for the miami boat show. when we came back that night (after having purchased a brand new raft!!!!) we found ourselves with the surprise that the chamber that originally inflated, had totally deflated....!!??!!*^^&** imagine if this had happened in the south pacific??? so the more reasons to be quite happy with our new raft. these are some pictures of our experiment inflating Jerry's raft in the yard.

ceilings

the ceilings at last. turned out to be a difficult project, especially to put them back in and of course we had to do this while still living at the house to take advantage of the space to work. at the end, after much work, they turned out quite nice and the interior looks a lot brighter and cleaner.
